Courmayeur - Local Area
Courmayeur is situated at the top of the Aosta Valley and on the Italian side of
the Mont Blanc Tunnel. The Courmayeur ski lift pass allows a day in another
resort in the Aosta Valley (namely La Thuile, Pila, Cervinia, Champoluc or
Gressoney) and a day in France (Chamonix or Flaine).
Aosta Valley, Italy
La Thuile
Approximately 15km/30 minutes by car, situated in the adjacent valley to
Courmayeur. Accessed via Pre St Didier, the road winds up the valley to La
Thuile on the Italian side of the Piccolo San Bernardo Pass leading to France
and the Tarentaise region. The ski area is north/north east facing open bowl
with good cruising pistes and accessible off piste. There are fantastic views at
the top of Le Belvedere on a clear day of the Matterhorn and Mont Blanc and
from here you can ski into France to the resort of La Rosiere.

Pila
Accessed via Aosta approximately 34km/30 minutes from Courmayeur down
the valley. You can either take the efficient gondola lift from the town of Aosta
or drive up enjoying spectacular views of Mont Blanc and the Matterhorn. Pila
is situated in a sheltered bowl with 70+km of vast wide-open pistes suitable
for beginners, ‘the Wall’ for advanced skiers and a snowpark for boarders.

Cervinia
Approximately 86km/1 hour 30 minutes drive from Courmayeur, Cervinia is
one of the highest resorts in the Italian Alps and links to Zermatt in
Switzerland. It has an excellent snow record, an efficient lift system and a
variety of runs for all abilities. It is dominated by Monta Rosa and the
Matterhorn with spectacular mountain scenery.

Approximately 97km/1 hour 30 minutes drive from Courmayeur, Champoluc is
a delightful village at the top of the Ayas Valley dominated by the Monte Rosa
peaks and glaciers. The ski area covers 3 valleys linking to Gressoney and
Alagna Valsesia and is suitable for beginners to advanced skiers and
snowboarders.

Gressoney
Approximately 116km/1 hour 40 minutes drive from Courmayeur, Gressoney
is a very scenic resort on the west side of Monte Rosa ski area. With 150km
of pistes covering 3 valleys with views towards Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa and
the Matterhorn, it is ideal for intermediate and advanced skiers and snow
boarders with access to excellent off piste areas.

Chamonix
Approximately 23km/30 minutes drive through the Mont Blanc Tunnel are
Chamonix and Argentiere, situated under Mont Blanc towering 4807 metres
above. The Chamonix valley offers 150km of pistes in 5 ski areas and is
known for its testing range of high altitude blue, red and black runs. The
Grand Montets glacier and the Valley Blanche can provide a day to
remember! There is a lively town with many shops, bars and restaurants for
après ski.

Approximately 75km/1 hour drive through the Mont Blanc tunnel towards
Geneva, Flaine is situated in the Grand Massif ski area in the Haute Savoie.
A purpose built resort but with some 265km of skiing in a vast open bowl with
gentle nursery slopes suitable for beginners, endless off piste for advanced
skiers and a snow park for snowboarders and kids half pipe.
